About This Quote

Why have I spent so long settling for less when I know damn well the world expects more? When you feel like you are not living up to your potential, one of the things you must realize is that everyone has a different expectation for you. Just because someone is expecting more from you does not mean that it is a healthy expectation. The only way to live up to your potential is to know what that potential is. You can’t be expected to do something that you have never done before.

And, if you have been doing it for a while, then there is no reason why you can’t continue doing it. In order for people to expect more from you, they must know what your current capabilities are so they can reasonably judge how much more they should be expecting from you. So, in essence, if everyone knows what your actual capabilities are, then there would be no need to compare them with other people because everyone would be able to tell that your expectations were reasonable and justified.
